Accessibility and Transport Links
Located just four miles north of Manchester City Centre, Blackley is served by excellent transport links. Public transport includes the Metrolink with the local station just 10 minutes walk from the development. The Metrolink allows access to the City Centre in just 10 minutes.
There are also a number of local bus services that serve the development, allowing access to not only the City Centre but also Bury, Oldham and Eccles.
Blackley is situated close to J19 & J20 of the M60 motorway and as such allows easy access to the national motorway network and the rest of Greater Manchester, including Manchester International Airport, which can be reached within 25 minutes.
Local Amenities and Leisure Activities
Approximately a mile away from Lakeside, is Heaton Park, the largest municipal park in Europe and the former estate of the Earl of Wilton. Owned by Manchester City Council since 1902, the park offers a variety of sporting, leisure and cultural activities. Within the park can be found the Grade I listed Heaton Hall, together with the Orangery a unique setting for private functions including weddings.
Horse-riding, golf, boating, bowls, pitch & putt are all available for visitors, plus a Horticultural Centre that has a vast selection of floral displays and plants to purchase.
Parks & Woodlands 'Historic Local Beauty'
In addition to Heaton Park, Lakeside is also less than two miles from Boggart Hole Clough, a nature reserve of historic interest. Recognised as a local beauty spot, as such it is a protected area. Another area of natural local beauty is Blackley Forest, part of the Red Rose Forest, planted in 1953 and designated a Site of Biological importance. Made up of nature trails and ponds, the forest is widely used by local residents and represents an opportunity to enjoy the natural wildlife of Blackley.
Sports
Within a three mile radius of Lakeside there are 6 private golf courses, together with a public course in Heaton Park. The area is also served by local public and private leisure centres including 'Fitness First' less than a mile away.
However, closest of all is Lakeside's exclusive residential gym featuring state-of-the-art fitness equipment, sauna and steamroom. A perfect way to unwind after a stressful day at work
Retail Facilities
Local retail facilities include Heaton Retail Park which contains a number of stores including a large Sainsbury's. In addition to this there is the retail centre of Higher Blackley that includes supermarkets, banks and local restaurants.
Education
There are 17 primary schools within a three mile radius of Lakeside together with four secondary schools, which provide mixed education for children between the ages of 5 to 16.
